Dominique Issermann first entered the world of images through the cinema in Italy, the reportage about the Carnation Revolution in Portugal and the fashion world with Sonia Rykiel, who entrusted her with her first advertising campaigns from 1979.

 

Renowned for her exceptional portraiture, Issermann has immortalized iconic figures such as Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Adjani, Bob Dylan, Marguerite Duras and Balthus, infusing her images with a distinctive allure that resonates with viewers. Her work exudes a unique style characterized by its ability to evoke profound emotions and capture the essence of beauty.

 

Her work as a fashion photographer can be seen in international publications such as The NYT Magazine and Vogue. She produces ads and advertising films for top brands such as Chanel and Dior, as well as video clips for Leonard Cohen.

 

Her artistic prowess has been showcased in prominent exhibitions at esteemed venues like the Rencontres d'Arles and the Maison Européene de la Photographie, underscoring her enduring impact on the art world. Continuously exploring new horizons, Issermann collaborates on personal projects, including books with notable figures like Anne Rohart and Laetitia Casta, further cementing her legacy as a visionary in the realm of photography.

 

Acknowledged for her contributions, Issermann has been honored with prestigious titles such as Officier des Arts et des Lettres, Chevalier de l'Ordre du Mérite, and Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. In a historic milestone, she became the first woman elected to the photographic section of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 2021, solidifying her place as a trailblazer in the world of visual arts.
