Step into the past through the lens of Frank Horvat.

This evocative image, captured in 1955, portrays a scene along the Manchester Ship Canal. The interplay of silhouettes and industrial might reflects the bustling post-war era, where commerce and human endeavor intertwined. Horvat's mastery of light and framing brings this moment to life, immortalized in a gelatin silver print.

Frank Horvat (1928–2020) was a renowned photographer born in Abbazia, Italy (now Opatija, Croatia). Influenced by Henri Cartier-Bresson, he began his career as a photojournalist, capturing iconic images in Asia and Europe.

Horvat later transitioned to fashion photography, working with prominent magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. His work is celebrated for its casual, photojournalistic style, often blending intimacy and beauty.

This timeless glimpse into the industrial heart of mid-20th century Britain showcases his enduring legacy.
