Galería Alta is honored to present an exhibition of worldwide acclaimed photographer and Oscar nominated filmmaker, Bruce Weber.

 

A selection of 31 iconic photographs will shine and dialog with the inhabited space of the gallery.

Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, in 1946, Bruce Weber is one of the most influential, prestigious and celebrated names in photography.

 

Weber's work has spanned nearly five decades and is widely credited with having challenged and help to redefine traditional perceptions of masculinity.

 

In 1966 he moved to New York to study film and photography at New York University. Diane Arbus introduced him to Lisette Model who accepted him among her students at the New School for Social Research.

 

Bruce Weber rose to international prominence in the early 80's creating powerful images for fashion houses like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Versace that became landmarks of fashion and advertising.

 

Bruce Weber, a recipient of the Gordon Parks and Alfred Eisenstadt awards, has published over 40 books and exhibited his work in the most important galleries and museums all over the world.

 

Weber is also a celebrated filmmaker that has produced several feature-length films, short films and multiple music videos. Amongst them : 

 

Let's Get Lost (1988), a portrait of Chet Baker. The film was nominated for an Oscar.

 

The Treasure of his Youth (2021), a documentary that explores the life of photojournalist Paolo Di Paolo through his photographs of the Italy of the '50s and '60s.
